Sequences from clone libraries

Question:

It is possible to assemble the reads from a sequencer (trace files) into a large number of contigs?

Answer:

Yes. From BioNumerics version 5.1 on, the Batch sequence assembly plugin is available that will automate most of the steps in this process. It offers automatic assembly of trace files and trimming of the resulting consensus sequence according to user-defined settings. These settings can be stored per experiment. Names for the database entries and sequence type experiments can be parsed from the trace file names or from an external template file. To facilitate manual cleanup of the assembled sequences, the plugin offers interactive reports with direct links to the sequences in the Assembler window of BioNumerics.
