I have a character type experiment, which I would like to see displayed in the experiment card as a 96-well plate, to resemble as closely as possible the actual experiment. However, the software does not allow me to do this; the option Plate in the Character type settings is grayed and can not be selected.
Answer:
This is because you have selected an open character set. In open character sets, the number of characters can grow when new entries are added. Therefore, these character types can only be displayed as a list of values and not as a plate. To change to a closed character set and enable the representation as a plate, uncheck Character set grows dynamically in the Character type settings dialog box.
