Band search settings

Question:

What does "Minimum profiling" and "Minimum area" for band searching mean? How can I relate the setting for these values to other metrics such as 'rfu'.

Answer:

The Minimum profiling and Minimum area values are clear and simple to interpret:

  • Minimum profiling is the relative height of a band to the highest value found on the gel. When Relative to maximum value of lane is checked in the Band Search settings, the minimum profiling is relative to the highest value of the profile itself.
  • Minimum area is the relative surface of a peak to the total surface under the curve of a certain profile.
