Antibiotics susceptibility testing

Question:

I am working with antibiotic susceptibility tests and was wondering if there is a way to automatically assign the properties Sensitive, Intermediate and Resistant based on Minimal Inhibitory Concentrations (MIC values) and/or inhibition zone diameters?

Answer:

You will need the Antibiotic susceptibility plugin (available from BioNumerics version 5.0 on) for this purpose. This plugin will allow you to enter the S-I-R cut-off values specific for the organisms and test conditions you are working with and will translate imported raw susceptibility values (either as MIC value or inhibition zone) into the categories S, I and R. Cluster analysis can then be performed on the raw data as well as on the translated values.
